A first-year apprentice carpenter at Ironbark Building Group works under supervision on residential framing, formwork and fit-out jobs. To start in this role, you are expected to hold or be actively developing the following skills:

General construction induction card (white card – CPCWHS1001)
Measuring, marking out and basic calculations
Safe use of hand tools (saws, hammers, chisels, planes)
Safe use of portable power tools under supervision (drills, circular saws)
Reading and interpreting basic construction drawings
Manual handling and safe lifting techniques
Communication and teamwork (following instructions, contributing at toolbox talks)
Basic levelling and setting out (spirit level, string line)
