1. SCOPE OF WORK

Supply and install timber lining boards to family room feature wall W3, MDF sheet panelling to hallway walls H1–H2, and all associated mouldings (architraves, skirtings, scotia) to the ground floor. All work to comply with the drawings, the specification sheet below, the manufacturer’s fixing specification, the NCC and referenced Australian Standards. Report any discrepancy between documents to the site supervisor before starting work.

3. LINING & MOULDING SPECIFICATION SHEET

4. MANUFACTURER’S FIXING SPECIFICATION — DURALINE 9 mm INTERIOR MDF WALL PANEL (Extract, Tech Data Sheet TDS-09, Rev 4)

4.1 Product compliance: Duraline interior MDF panels are manufactured to AS/NZS 1859.2 (Reconstituted wood-based panels — dry-processed fibreboard, MDF). Panels are for internal dry areas only in Class 1a dwellings under NCC Volume Two. Where plywood panelling is substituted, it must comply with AS/NZS 2270 (plywood for interior use).

4.2 Substrate: Fix to seasoned timber battens minimum 42 × 19 mm at maximum 450 mm centres, packed to a uniform plane (max deviation 3 mm over a 1.8 m straightedge). Wall framing to comply with AS 1684.2.

4.3 Conditioning: Stack panels flat, on site, in the room of installation for a minimum of 48 hours before fixing to allow acclimatisation.

4.4 Fixing method (mandatory): Apply a continuous 6 mm bead of construction adhesive to each batten AND mechanically fix with 30 mm × 2.0 mm panel brads at 200 mm centres along sheet edges and 300 mm centres to intermediate battens. Brads no closer than 12 mm to panel edges. Adhesive-only fixing voids the product warranty.

4.5 Movement gaps: Allow a 10 mm expansion gap at floor and ceiling junctions (concealed by skirting/scotia). Do not butt panels hard against wet-area or masonry surfaces.

5. WHS & SITE NOTES

SWMS-07 (power tool use and manual handling of sheet materials) to be read and signed before starting. Discuss at morning toolbox talk.
PPE: eye protection and hearing protection when cutting; P2 respirator when machining MDF.
Collect MDF offcuts and dust for disposal in the designated construction waste skip — do not burn or bury MDF waste.

Uncontrolled when printed. Check with site supervisor that you hold the current revision before commencing work.
